Measurement Time Reduction for Automotive Applications

Researchers at the DLR in Germany are developing a model to reduce the amount of time used in monitoring EIS of fuel cells and batteries by reducing the number of frequencies modeled. They use DRT to identify relevant time constants. Their approach is interesting and likely valuable for real-world application of EIS, but it will take a much more robust dataset be able to adopt their procedure widely. This project should be supported to its full extent if possible.  Muck and Esser, 9 Feb 2026 [https://www.mdpi.com/2032-6653/17/2/88]

Microneedle Cytokine Sensor

In a large research group of people from Brazil, the US, and Uruguay, a PCL/PPy-coated microneedle bioelectrode was developed to electrochemically detect a certain cytokine within the interstitial fluid of human skin. They highlighted their impedance results as they quantified the amount of the cytokine within the interstitial fluid though changes in the charge transfer resistance. This work is a good candidate for DRT analysis, as the specific cytokine tested could mark several different conditions which may be discernable (albeit this may not be likely) through time constant analysis.
